o how pinteresting: easter eggs

i love easter.
easter egg hunts,
baking bunny shaped carrot cake,
eating honey glazed ham and mashed potatoes,
and painting ceramic easter eggs
are all traditions that i love.

have you ever painted ceramic eggs?
i think ceramic is the way to go...they never rot! :)
my nana painted ceramic eggs years and years ago and we still have them today.
it's such a fantastic memory to see them each easter season.

and incase you're feeling glitzy...

and i just adore this watercolor version...

or, if you're a washi enthusiast like me...

what is your favorite easter craft?

wearing your heart on your feet

i am a lover of all things comfy,
so my toesies and a pair of toms are pretty much meant to be.
my very first pair of toms were navy and white stripes.
my dad called them prison shoes.
i wore them all day every day. even when a giant hole appeared right on my big toe.

when my sweet cousin asked me if i would be willing to paint a pair of toms for her,
i had to take a few minutes to really think about it,
but after some coaxing, i took on the challenge,
and i'm so glad i did!

this sweet cousin of mine has an incredible heart for missions, especially in the country of Mozambique. she spent some time there on a mission trip a few years back, and her heart has been there ever since! :)
after lots and lots of sketching and trial runs on paper,
and a lot of prayer,
i finally worked up the courage to put the paint on the canvas.
inspired by this pair on etsy
tadaaaaa!
i had so much fun working on this project and i feel incredibly blessed that she would trust her toms to me!  and i don't think they turned out half bad if i do say so myself! :)

"however, i consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me." acts 20:24

do you own a pair of toms?
would you ever decorate a pair of your own?

a temporary marketing professional

you know you're a marketing professional when:
you are an expert at lifting giant heavy boxes in heels.
you know avery nametag label numbers by heart.
95% of your project request conversations start with the words, "i know this is last minute but..."
you enjoy watching commercials and you actually look at ads in magazines and newspapers.
you get paid to plan and attend your company holiday party

i like my job 70% of the time.
i consider myself lucky because i know that is probably a lot more than many people feel about their jobs.  but even at 70%, i don't want my job to be the thing that defines me, and i don't want it to be the thing i depend on to bring me happiness.

the other day, i found myself talking to someone who loved their job 98% of the time. he said he hated to call it a job because he loved it so much.
i decided that instead of saying that he loved his job, he should say that he loved the way he spent his days.

i think the things you find your happiness and joy in outside of work,
the i you spend my days or nights or weekends,
are the things that are most important.
for me, that would be bub-hub, my family, the LORD, baking, exercising, and crafting.
these are all things that bring me joy.

i'm kinda glad i don't love my job 100% of the time,
because if i did,
i wouldn't fully appreciate the rest of the wonderful blessings i have in my life.
i wouldn't be motivated to seek out new adventures and experiences,
and i wouldn't have the desire to seek out what the LORD has planned for me next.

praise the LORD my life was meant for more than a 9-5 desk job.
i'm not sure to what adventures my passions will take me,
but i'm confident that right now, the LORD has me in the place i need to be,
even if that means lifting heavy boxes in heels.

"therefore we do not lose heart. though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. so we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 corinthians 4:16-18
